Today is dedicated to exploring the capital city of Kathmandu, whose ancient art, architecture, and museums vividly narrate its rich history. Accompanied by your group, you will visit four major UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the sacred stupas of Swayambhunath and Boudhanath, the historic royal architecture of Patan Durbar Square, and the holy Hindu temple of Pashupatinath. After enjoying an early breakfast, you will embark on a scenic overland journey heading west from Kathmandu toward Nepalgunj. Located in the Banke district of Nepal’s Lumbini Province, Nepalgunj is approximately 490 to 520 kilometers away. The drive takes roughly 10 to 12 hours over highways that can be winding and bumpy at times, offering wonderful views of rolling landscapes and glimpses of major waterways like the Bheri and Karnali rivers.
Upon reaching the regional hub, you will get a feel for the unique lowland Terai atmosphere. From there, you will take a short ongoing drive of about an hour to reach the charming Gabhar Valley Community Homestay. Today features a long and adventurous day of driving as you head deeper into the remote mid-western hills toward Kalikot, soaking in spectacular landscapes along the way. Your first major stop is in Surkhet, a pleasant and welcoming valley town off the typical tourist trail. Here, you will visit the famous Bulbulle Tal, a unique lake named for the natural water bubbles constantly rising from its spring-fed bed, surrounded by a peaceful children’s park, statues of Lord Gautam Buddha, and local greenery.
Continuing your journey, you will travel through the high hilly district of Dailekh, taking in the striking topography and stopping for photos before pushing further north toward Kalikot. This is the day you have been waiting for! After an early breakfast, you will take a scenic drive toward the fringes of Rara National Park. Upon reaching the vehicle drop-off point near the lake area, you will embark on a pleasant final walk through thick alpine pine forests and quiet trails.

During the spring farmers grow crops in the mountain region, hence you will also get a chance to observe the indigenous farming method.
