Chepang Hill Trek 7 Days Overview

Chepang Hill Trek is one of the most famous trekking routes of Dhading and Chitwan, which leads you to the vast diversity of cultures and religions living in the Terai and Hill region of Chitwan. Chepangs used to be the hunters and had no fixed place to live but these days they have formed a village and started modern agriculture methods.

Chepang Hill Trek lets you experience the lifestyle and daily struggles of people living in Chepang Village. In the Chepang Hill Trek, you will be passing through various forests with the surroundings of different flora and faunas, and other species of birds.

846 species of birds are found in Nepal and some can be witnessed if you visit these places in a suitable season. You also get to enjoy the panoramic views of a mountain after reaching the highest point of this trek which is in Siraichuli (1,960m).

Chepang villages and Chepang People have their languages and traditions which they have been following and preserving for many years. After encountering those people, you will know more about them and their way of living. They are very friendly and always have a welcoming environment around them.

On this trek, you will also be passing through other cultural villages of this region like Magars, Chettry, Newars, and so on. It’s a very short trek that offers you the feel and experience of trekking in a short period.

According to our itinerary, this trek lasts for 5 days which you will be trekking through adventurous routes and passing through various forests and villages along with the majestic views of mountains which are above (6000m).

Pashupatinath Temple
Pashupatinath Temple is one of the oldest temples not only in Nepal but also all around the world. This temple is dedicated to the Hindu God Shiva, whereas many Hindu Devotees from Nepal and other countries visit this place every year.

According to Hindu mythology, this place was still in existence during 400 CE. This place was declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO in 1979 AD. The temple is located on the bank of the river called Bagmati and the total area covered by this temple is 246 hectares which includes 518 mini pagodas and the main pagoda house.

Patan Durbar Squar

Patan Durbar Square which is located in the heart of Lalitpur. Patan Durbar Square represents the Newari architecture that had reached its crest during the reign of Malla kings who were great architects and patrons of the arts and architecture. Some of the major highlights of Patan Durbar Square are Krishna Temple, Patan Museum, Golden Temple and Sundari Chowk, etc.

Swayambhunath Temple
It is an ancient temple built at the top of the mountain in Kathmandu Valley. Not only an important place for the Buddhist religion but equally important for the Hindu Religion as well. There are many other small shrines and stupas around the main monument which were built around the Licchavi Period.

From there you will be able to witness the 360 view of Kathmandu Valley because of the location where the temple is located. This place was declared a world heritage site by UNESCO in 1979 AD.

Boudhanath Stupa
Boudhanath Stupa is the holiest and peaceful place for Buddhist religions which heavily resembles the Buddhist culture and also the largest spherical stupas in Nepal. Many of the Tibetan refugees have migrated and stayed around Boudh for many generations.

There are many markets and shops opened by locals that sell handicrafts, sculptures, and paintings made by themselves. This place was declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO in 1979 AD.

You will be taking an early morning bus to reach Hugdi. The distance from Kathmandu to Hugdi is not much. It takes 4-5 hours to reach and the total distance is around (80 km). After reaching Hugdi, you will be resting and having lunch there.

On the same day, you will be trekking towards Hattibang. Trekking trails to reach Hattibang are adventurous thrilling and full of surprises. It takes around (5 hours) to reach Hattibang from Hugdi.

You will be passing through other cultural villages of Magar, Chepang, and Giripuri cultures and finally reach your destination of the day which is Hattibang. You will be spending a night there at a local Guest House.

Siraichuli is the highest peak in Chitwan District which is located in Ishchakamana Rural Municipality of Chitwan District. After your breakfast, you will be heading towards the Siraichuli viewpoint. From there you will be able to witness some of the highest mountains in the world. Some of them are Gaurisankhar, Dhaulagiri, Langtang, Rolwaling, Manaslu, and the Terai Belt of the southern region of Nepal.

It is the perfect place located between the Terai and Hilly region which gives you the views of both the regions. Overnight at local homestay in Jandala Village.

There is no such particular season for this trek. You will be travelling to Chitwan District which is famous for its wildlife and adventurous activities. You only have to make a plan and separate your busy five days from your life to enjoy this trek to the fullest.

There is no particular season that you need during this trek but according to our suggestions, you might avoid the rainy season because it makes your trekking experience difficult as the trails get slippery and dangerous during this season.

There are high chances of facing natural calamities like landslides, over rainfall, floods, and so on. So we would like to avoid this type of season. There is a place called Siraichuli where you will be visiting to witness the views from there and if the weather is fortunate you will be able to witness the majestic views of the mountain and the mountain ranges.

You will be staying in hotels and guest houses during your trek, which offers good quality accommodation and food during your stay. All the facilities available there in guest houses are modern and maintained so there will be no issue with basic things.
