Best Time of the Trek
The most suitable time for the Tsum Valley trek is in the spring and autumn seasons. Spring from (March-May) and in Autumn (September-November)
During Spring the weather is comfortable and warm during the day and chilly during the night. Skies are clear during the day so you will be able to experience the views of mountains and other necessary things to the fullest. Rhododendrons and other seasonal flowers are fully grown during this season.
You might also encounter different species of birds and animals. There will be no risk of natural calamities during this season and hence most of the trekkers prefer to trek during this season. The Autumn season is similar to the spring season where the days are warm and nights are less cold in lower altitudes and as altitude increases there will not be that much of an issue.
After the heavy rainfall of the monsoon season, the skies are pretty clear during the daytime, and you can also witness the greenery and lust forest during the trek.
Winter and Moonson seasons are not favorable for the Tsum Valley trek. During Monsoon season, most places are affected by landslides and the trekking trail gets way harder due to rain which causes slippery and floods in some areas.
During winter, the weather gets unsuitable for the trek. You will be trekking the an altitude of (4,000m) and you might face some extreme issues during this season due to extreme cold and altitude. Heavy snowfall is going to create a disturbance in your trek and most of the places might get blocked due to it.
Trek Difficulty
Tsum Valley Trek is not an easy level of trekking route. You might need some previous experience for this trek route because you will trek at the altitude of (4,46m) in Larkya La Pass.
There are high chances of facing difficulties and altitude sickness for beginners. Also being one of the longest trekking routes which lasts for more than 20 days you might have to prepare a longer period for this, which is mostly hard for people.
This trekking route takes you to that level of altitude that you might never have experienced in a trek, so a proper plan and guidance should be needed for beginners. You will be trekking for a maximum (of 6-7 hrs) a day on hard and stiff roads which take you through the ups and downs throughout the whole day.
