Major Attractions
Potala Palace
One of Tibet’s many famous sites, Potala Palace, is renowned for its exquisite architecture and classic elegance. The 13-story palace structures have 200,000 sculptures, 10,000 shrines, and more than 1,000 rooms.
Situated at the highest altitude, it is the biggest and best-preserved ancient castle-style complex in the world. The palace has spiritual importance as the Dalai Lama’s winter residence in addition to its illustrious design.
The Tibetan ruler Songtsen Gampo was the first to construct the palace. With lights shining on it, the palace is just as attractive at night. Many parts of the palace are closed to the public and tourists since monks live and work there.
Rongbuk Monastery
In Basum Township, Rongbuk Monastery, also called Dzarongpu or Dzarong, is a Tibetan Buddhist monastery belonging to the Nyingma sect. The history of Rongbuk Monastery is not well documented.
Rongbuk monastery is located at 4,980 meters above sea level, close to the foot of Mount Everest’s north side. With a long history, the monastery was founded in 1902 by the Nyingma Lama Ngawang Tenzin Norbu.
Rongbuk Monastery served as a hub for the neighborhood in addition to being a house of worship. Living off of water, hermits frequently went on meditation retreats in the valley’s caverns.
Against the backdrop of Mount Everest rearing its head upwards, the monastery and its enormous pagoda create a fantastic shot. For many Mount Everest treks, it acts as a base camp.
The monastery’s inward-sloping walls and flat roofs follow traditional Tibetan architectural principles. Visitors may view beautiful Thangka paintings and brightly colored fabric scrolls that represent Buddhist deities inside the monastery’s halls.
The monastery is now reachable by vehicle from Shelka or the Friendship Highway in two to three hours. After the monastery was destroyed during China’s Cultural Revolution, officials made a concerted effort to restore it and protect its architectural legacy.
Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Patan Durbar Squares (World Heritage Sites)
Nepal’s natural marvels, spirituality, and culture are all beautifully combined in its UNESCO World Heritage Sites. It is worthwhile to visit each of these important locations. The Newars’ exceptional cultural traditions, which were reflected in their distinctive urban communities, served as the model for these monuments.
The stunning architectural and cultural legacy of Nepal is on display in Bhaktapur Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage site. In Bhaktapur, the Durbar Square is the focal point of both religious and political activities.
Among the most visited locations are the monument of King Bhupatindra, the renowned Bhaktapur art gallery, the fifty-five-windowed Malla palace, and Naytapola Temple. There are well-preserved examples of Shikhara, Newari, and conventional pagodas from the 17th and 18th centuries.
There are so many fascinating Newari buildings in Patan Durbar Square. A beautiful fusion of Buddhist and Hindu influences may be seen in the square’s intricately designed temples, palaces, and courtyards.
Like the other two durbar squares, this one is filled with courtyards, palaces, and temples. Among the well-known sites to visit are the temples of Mahabouddha, Kumbheswor, Krishna, Golden, and Jagat Narayan.
Other names for Kathmandu Durbar Square include Basantapur and Hanuman Dhoka. Kathmandu Durbar Square, the ancient palace of the previous Malla rulers that was subsequently acquired by the Shahs, is located in the center of Kathmandu.
Beautiful temples, museums, and elaborate structures that were once royal vicinities adorn the entire property. A well-liked destination in the square is Kumari Ghar, the home of the living goddess Kumari.
North base camp of Everest
Mount Everest is well-known for its breathtaking snowcapped peaks and scenic splendor. It features two base camps. At 5,150 meters above sea level, the North Base Camp is situated in Tibet. Hiking is not required at this base camp, which is conveniently accessible by vehicle, in contrast to the South Base Camp.
This is a fantastic chance to take in the alpine scenery. You will have plenty of time to explore the valleys and glaciers beneath the towering north face of Mount Everest on your journey to Everest Base Camp.
Yamdrok Tso
One of Tibet’s four greatest sacred lakes is Yamdrok Tso Lake, also called Yamdrok Yumtso. This lake is up to 72 km long, encircled by several mountains, and supplied by numerous streams.
The lake contains several islands of varying sizes that are covered in juniper. The breathtaking vista of Yamdrok Lake changes color with the seasons, making it a year-round destination.
The only Tibetan monastery run by a female reincarnation, Samding Monastery, is another reason for this lake’s fame. It is said that for hundreds of years, the third-highest lama in Tibetan Buddhism has been reincarnating in this monastery.

Best Time for this Tour
An excellent combination visit would include Tibet and Nepal. Although Tibet and Nepal have different weather patterns, they share many climatic characteristics. Since spring and fall provide the most pleasant weather, these seasons are unquestionably the ideal times to visit Nepal and Tibet.
Tibet and Nepal come alive with flowering flowers and verdant scenery in the spring. The weather is perfect for hiking and enjoying the natural environs, and the sky is largely clear. A pleasant environment is provided by both seasons, which escape the summer’s intense monsoon rains and the bitterly frigid winters. Traveling in this season makes people the happiest.
Although summer is Nepal’s off-season, it is said to be the best time of year to visit Tibet. For some people, winter is off-season, while for others, it’s ideal. The cold won’t stop you from being outside, but you’ll need to dress warmly.
During the monsoon season, Tibet sees thunderstorms and a lot of rain. The eastern hills get up to a meter of rain, and the mountains are obscured by dense clouds. Walking on the wet, slick paths might be challenging, and it wouldn’t be enjoyable if your views were blocked.
