Best Time of the Tour

Spring

Spring is the first season of the year when tourism is at its best, and the weather is great for trekking and touring in Nepal and Bhutan. The skies are clear, the sun is shining, and there is little chance of rain before the monsoons arrive in June or July. In the spring, the valleys are filled with new growth and bright green grass.

Autumn

If you decide to go to Nepal and Bhutan in autumn, you are going to have the most rewarding travel. To the north of the country, the monsoon will have washed everything, and there will be a lot of vibrant green and a lot of visibility, which makes it great to do activities in the Himalayan range like Everest Base Camp Trek or Annapurna Circuit.

You are also going to be able to witness the whole cultural ambiance as the country celebrates important festivals such as Dashain and Tihar during this time of the year, which is why you will have an authentic feel of the Nepalese.

The comfortable weather ranges from about 20 °C to 25 °C in the valleys, making it possible for you to visit important cities such as Kathmandu and Pokhara without difficulties.

Winter

Nepal and Bhutan can be described as quiet and peaceful if one visits them during the winter season. In Bhutan, the winter temperatures are quite low, especially in mountainous regions, but the valleys such as Paro and Thimphu will be more accessible.

The snowy mountains will be sights worth seeing, and the ambiance will be charming with fewer visitors. There will be chances to visit various monasteries, and the beautiful landscapes of tranquil Bhutan will be within reach.

Winters would be perfect for travel to Punakha due to its warm climate. While winter is not the best time for high-altitude trekking, you will find it great if you prefer fewer crowds and a peaceful atmosphere. You will still enjoy beautiful views of the Himalayas with clear, crisp skies.

Monsoon

From June to August, severe rains fall in several parts of Bhutan, particularly in significant tourist locations such as Paro, Thimphu, and Punakha. In Paro and Thimphu, the average rainfall during three months.

This is typically lower in the Bumthang Dzongkhag, averaging each month throughout the monsoon season. Rainfall is slightly higher in Punakha, a popular trekking destination, with an average of 640mm per month.

Punakha, due to its lower height, experiences more rainfall and warmer temperatures during the summer monsoon season.
